SAM
BRANDING
SAM’ salon is a local barbershop that is situated in a small village in Mauritius. It has been open for more than 11 years and has been operating without a logo or any sort of advertising. The only way of promoting the services was by ‘mouth-to-ear’ and since Sam was situated in a small village, he got mainly local clients. – semi fictional uni project
It is a sole owned business owned by a hair artist called Sameer. He has a lot of regional clients but since he grew over the years, he is getting more and more clients from other cities and villages. The only way to book an appointment is to call and since he is the only one running the shop, he is constantly interrupted to arrange appointments while working. One of his other problems is that he wanted to have his own line of products and some kind of unique way to represent his personality in his brand.
The logo is designed to not only fit his personal traits but also his always happy personality. There are 2 types of hair products, one for casual users and the other is for people with a higher budget that like to take good care of their hair. The target audience is mostly middle age men but lately he is getting a lot of teenagers and young adults, so the brand is designed to be very manly thus why following a rustic tone of voice. The project includes many deliverables from business card to signage and each of them are constant in design, typography and colour scheme. A “scan to book” QR code is also available so that customers can book using an app, selecting services and choosing the available time slots without disturbing Sameer. Promotional flyers and t-shirts are included in the set as well, they are meant to increase customer awareness about the brand and the services offered.
